Our Three Step Powder Coating Process
Step 1:
We first Sandblast the metal surface. This cleans the outer layer and removes all grease, oil, and rust. This pure white finish has no impurities. Sandblasting, similar to sanding, creates a rough surface making the primer and powder coat bond easily.
Step 2:
We then prime the metal fence with a thin epoxy coating over the entire surface. Next, we place the fence in a 400 degree oven. This allows the primer to bond deep into the metals surface. Primer helps the product last outdoors.
Step 3:
Finally, a polyester powder coat is applied. This can be accomplished in a wide variety of colors we have at Smith Powder Coating. We again place the product in a 400 degree oven. Once the fence is cooled, the metal has a strong smooth coating that will last for years to come.
